BUGATTI Engine Type 50

This extraordinary engine was the first « double overhead » Bugatti engine to be mass-produced. Originally intended to equip our “Le Mans” models only, we found this engine so beautiful that we couldn’t resist making a few privileged customers benefit from it. That is how we got to produce a mini series of five models. This engine is the reproduction of the double overhead 4.9 liter of the latest generation.
They are very close to the engines that equipped the Grand-prix type 54 cars, as well as the four-drive-wheel type 53s. This is a “long STROKE” straight engine with eight cylinders of 4900cc, as they used to be back then. It is equipped with a supercharger and two Schebler carburetors. It is supposed to develop about 270hp in this layout, and an enormous torque of 700 to 900N/m, according to sources. Coupled with a three-gear transmission, this engine would allow the Le Mans “50s” to reach and exceed 200km/h.

  • Scale: 1/8th
  • Theme: Mechanical engineering
  • Serie: Five pieces delivered
The model is entirely made out of aluminium, brass and steel. The engine is completely screwed, which means that it can be totally dismantled. The crankcase and the clutch housing are moulded in aluminium according to a lost-wax casting process. All the other parts are manufactured or assembled through mechanical welding.

Creation entirely designed and made at my workshop in France.
