Chassis 50177 - Guy BOURIAT & Albert DIVO
Driven by to two Grand Prix drivers, Louis Chiron and Achille Varzi, this car was probably the pacemaker of the Bugatti team in 1931.
Jean Bugatti also took it out of the race for safety reasons due to tire failures. When the car stopped, it seemed the engine was close
to throwing a rod. The engine was replaced with 50181’s engine, miraculously left unscathed by Rost’s accident.
After a stay in the
factory’s yard, the car was sold as “new”, given an elegant landau bodyweight, similar to some of the “55”. This car still exists and was
recently given its 1931 setup back. To do so, the owner used our study of the car and our blueprint.
The model is entirely made out of aluminium, brass and steel. The engine is completely screwed, which means that it can be totally dismantled. The crankcase and the clutch housing are moulded in aluminium according to a lost-wax casting process. All the other parts are manufactured or assembled through mechanical welding.
Creation entirely designed and made at my workshop in France.
